Scheduling

Our office is open Monday through Friday from 8AM to 5PM. We will schedule your appointment as promptly as possible. If you have pain or an emergency situation, please let us know and we will do our best or accommodate you.

We try to stay on schedule to minimize your waiting and we realize your time is valuable. Because we provide surgical services, adhering to a strict schedule is not always possible. Treatment of patients on an emergency basis can also cause delays to the regular schedule. We appreciate your understanding and patience.

Consultation

Generally, there is no charge to the patient for an initial consultation. Exceptions to this are for a TMJ or pathology/biopsy evaluation, which are charged a $125 consultation fee. If subsequent surgical treatment is provided, the cost of the consultation will be deducted from the surgical fee. Consultations for Orthognathic surgery, dental implants, wisdom teeth, and facial cosmetic surgery are free of charge to the patient. Under some circumstances we may submit a consultation claim to an insurer.

Your initial appointment will consist of a consultation explaining your diagnosis and proposed treatment. For minor procedures, surgery can be done on the initial visit. For more extensive procedures and for procedures involving intravenous (IV) sedation or general anesthesia, a consultation is required. A complete discussion of surgical and anesthesia considerations is done on the consult visit and the procedure is scheduled for another day.

Please assist us by providing the following information at the time of your consultation:

  • Your surgical referral request from your referring doctor and any x-rays
  • A list of medications you are presently taking
  • Please alert the office if you have a medical condition which may be of concern prior to surgery (i.e. diabetes, high blood pressure, artificial heart valve or prosthetic joint replacement, heart murmur or mitral valve prolapse, or are taking coumadin or another anticoagulant.)
  • All medical and dental insurance information. This will save time and allow us to help you with insurance reimbursement.

IMPORTANT: a parent or guardian must accompany all patients under the age of 18 at the consultation visit.

  • A pre-operative consultation and physical examination is mandatory for patients undergoing I.V. general anesthesia for surgery. Please DO NOT eat or drink 6 hours prior to your surgery. You will also need an accompanying adult to take you home.

Please alert the office if you have a medical condition that may be of concern prior to surgery (i.e., diabetes, high blood pressure, artificial heart valves and joints, heart murmur, mitral valve prolapse, etc.).

X-Rays

If your dentist or physician has taken any x-rays which are relevant to the treatment you are seeking at our office, you may request that they forward copies to us prior to your visit. If there is not sufficient time, you may pick them up and bring them with you to our office. If additional films are necessary, they can be taken at our facility. Occasionally you will be referred to a radiologist for special imaging studies.
